TACKLING ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE HOW TO KEEP ANTIBIOTICS WORKING FOR THE NEXT CENTURY

Dame Sally, the UK’s Chief Medical Officer, has made antimicrobial resistance (AMR) a global priority for action over the past 11 years. AMR is a multisectoral, intergenerational emergency that requires global commitment. The report highlights the need for a multidisciplinary approach that includes science, public engagement, behavioral research, policy, and regulation.

Lord Ara Darzi, a cancer surgeon and co-chair of the Fleming Initiative, believes that a multidisciplinary approach is needed to safeguard modern medicine and the discovery of penicillin. The report seeks to provide fresh impetus for tackling AMR and ensuring its continued success in the global context.
